Tamegroute Pottery
Since the dawn of time, pottery has been one of the first craft activities of man. In Morocco, this art is prized and rarely unequaled. Tamegroute pottery is distinguished by its beautiful green enamel, sometimes tinged with brown ochre. It is considered Berber pottery , practiced in these small rural areas, not far from the desert .
Tamegroute artisans use traditional processes to shape jars, jugs, salad bowls, plates and other decorative objects. They extract local clay from underground galleries, work it by hand, shape it, sculpt it, then leave it to dry in the sun . The pieces are characterized by thick walls, deep, rich hues, and an irregular surface that adds charm to each creation .
Heading towards Zagora , passing through the magnificent Drâa Valley, don't forget to make a small detour of about twenty kilometers from Zagora to discover Tamegroute.
